Gratitude, Pie, and the Power of Showing Up

Thanksgiving tends to stir up a swirl of thoughts. There’s the logistics: who’s bringing what, who’s staying where, and whether the turkey will actually fit in the oven this year. But underneath it all, there’s something else. A quiet invitation to reflect.

For me, that reflection shows up in a simple but beautiful tradition we call Pie Day.

No, it’s not an official holiday (yet), but in my world, it might as well be. It’s a day where friends, colleagues, and neighbors stop by, share a laugh, grab a pie, and catch up. Some stay for just a minute; others linger a while, sipping, snacking  or swapping stories. But the real magic isn’t in the pies, it’s in the presence.

Each person who walks through the door brings a story. Some have had a year of growth, others a year of grief. Some are celebrating milestones, and others are simply surviving. And in this swirl of lives, we get to remind each other: you matter and you’re not alone.

This Year Feels Different

I don’t know if it’s just me, but this year feels heavier in places. There’s a lot happening in the world: economic uncertainty, political noise, and personal challenges that many are quietly carrying.

Maybe you’ve felt it too, that foggy weight of “not knowing” what the future holds. Questions about finances, housing, career shifts, family dynamics, and what 2026 will bring.

Clarity starts with connection.

It doesn’t start with an app or a perfect plan. It starts with someone listening. Someone who knows what’s going on in your world, and who can walk with you toward answers that make sense for your season of life.

And while the headlines may be swirling, there are things you can do right now, small, clear steps to position yourself wisely for the year ahead. Whether that’s preparing a property for sale, updating your trust documents, evaluating long-term housing options for a loved one, or simply getting a clearer picture of your financial landscape.

You don’t have to do it alone. And you don’t have to have all the answers today.

The Gift of Gathering

This Holiday season, whether you’re hosting a crowd or having a quiet meal, I encourage you to lean into the power of showing up, for others, yes, but also for yourself.

  • Pick up the phone and check on that friend you’ve been meaning to call.

  • Go for a walk without your phone and let your mind wander toward wonder.

  • Write a note of appreciation to someone who’s had your back this year.

  • And above all,  let yourself receive the love and grace that’s being offered to you.

Gratitude doesn’t always show up in big, bold declarations. Sometimes, it whispers in the small things: the unexpected smile, the pie picked up from someone who remembered your favorite flavor, the way a conversation lingers just a little longer than usual.

That’s what Pie Day reminds me of. That every interaction has the potential to deposit something beautiful. And that in a world that feels rushed and unpredictable, kindness, connection, and a warm slice of apple pie are still very much in style.

In A Nutshell . . .

If your mind is spinning with to-dos, or your heart is carrying more than usual, just know: you don’t have to have it all figured out.

Whether it’s about real estate, probate, planning for a parent, or just pausing to breathe, I’m here. The door is open, and the kettle is on.

And no matter where you’re headed in 2026, I’d be honored to help you walk into it with more peace, clarity, and confidence.

Happy Holidays, may your days be full of laughter, love, and maybe just a little whipped cream on top.
